Fire Risk Assessment

Did you know that fire and rescue services can advise on a completed fire risk assessment but not carry out the fire risk assessments?

Fire risk assessment consultancy FOR YOUR PLACE OF WORK

Our Fire Risk Assessment Consultancy services are tailored to suit all types of premises and workplaces, in fact any premises that are not deemed private dwellings.

The Order applies to all non-domestic premises in England and Wales, including the common parts of blocks of flats or houses in multiple occupation (HMOs).  The law applies to you if you are:

  • responsible for business premises,
  •  an employer or self-employed with business premises,
  • responsible for a part of a dwelling where that part is solely used for business purposes,
  •  a charity or voluntary organisation, or
  •  a contractor with a degree of control over any premises.

Fire risk assessment review / renewal

Your fire risk assessment should be reviewed and updated continuously to keep it a "live" document.  In particular, it should be updated following any significant changes in your premises, significant changes in staffing levels, or work processes on your site, if you've had a near hit fire incident, or a real fire.  Even with no changes to your site, it is good practice to review your fire risk assessment at intervals not exceeding 12 months.

Our Fire Risk Assessment Consultants will review an existing fire risk assessment document and comment on any changes since the last assessment, offer a re-assessment of your premises, an audit of last year's action plan and an updated report and new action plan.

There is no need to stay with your present advisors.

Who is responsible FOR MEETING THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE ORDER?

Under the Order, anyone that has control of the premises or anyone who has a degree of control over certain areas or systems may be a ‘responsible person’. In a workplace, this is the employer and any other person who may have control of any part of the premises (e.g. the occupier or owner). In all other premises the person or people in control of the premises will be responsible. If there is more than one responsible person in any type of premises, all must take all reasonable steps to co-operate and co-ordinate with each other.

RB Health and Safety Solutions Ltd can help you with all your legal duties under the Order.
